What is Plan Builder?
Plan Builder is a workflow tool made specifically for managing and creating EHS plans and programs for your workforce. You can search from a library of curated EHS plans and customize them to meet the needs of your organization. Plans can be revised and reviewed for compliance, as well as copied and distributed easily.
If that sounds good, let’s find out how to use it.
Finding Plan Builder
Plan Builder has its own admin portal, separate from the greater EHS Hero at the time of writing: https://ehsplanbuilder.blr.com/#/login
Here, you’ll be presented with your dashboard immediately after logging in:
1a. Plan Builder’s dashboard
In the dashboard is where you’ll find the most recent revision, last edited plan, as well as login information. From here, some of the most relevant features of the Plan Builder are at your disposal. We can start with some of the basics.
How Can I Build a New Plan?
We’ve made sure that there’s more than enough versatility in your Plan Builder experience, and that extends to building and managing your Plans. You can either choose from curated Plans that we’ve put together, or if you have an idea of your organization's needs, you can import your own as well.
Starting from the dashboard, locate Add New Plan.
1b. Add New
The flow you’re taken to is where you’re able to begin piecing together the foundation of your Plan.
Step One: Select Your Plans
We’ve provided a multitude of premade templates, covering multiple topics and jurisdictions to help bring together the core components of your Plan. In this step you’re able to view and select one or more of those templates to create a set of core topics.
Step Two: Editing Your Plan
This is where the actual configuration of your Plan comes to fruition. You’re able to edit, merge and rearrange the templates you’ve started with, or add to them. There’s no limit to what can be changed, as there’s full access to add assets like charts, tables and graphs to add more color to your Plan.
Step Three: Format
Time to add the finishing touches. At this step, you can standardize things like font, page alignment and location to make sure your Plan matches the rest of your organization’s releases.
1c. Formatting Selections
Step Four: Review
Once a Plan has been edited and properly standardized, it’s ready to be submitted for Review. At this step, it can be submitted to various members of the team – or, if no verification is needed, this can be skipped altogether.

Step Five: Finalize
And we’re mostly done! All that’s left at this step is to get ready for distribution. You can export to Word or Print directly from the Tool. If neither, HTML is also supported.
And that’s the process of creating a Plan from start to finish. But there’s a few other highlights.
What Else Can Be Done in the Plan Builder?
Documents Library: This is where content from us here at BLR can be viewed, allowing you full control to go through and save new material. You can see where content was used and when it was last updated to avoid duplicates.
Document Updates: Here is where you’ll see changes made to the documents you’ve modified.
Manage Approver/Reviewers: This a settings page that allows for different members of the team to be added and managed to review Plans.
Preferences: These are settings that are standardized across Plans.
