In this issue of EHS Hero's What's New, the EPA has proposed five chemicals for risk evaluation under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), marking them as high-priority substances. The EPA also issued an emergency ban on the pesticide Dacthal under FIFRA and announced a new strategy to address plastic pollution. Methane emissions from landfills were identified as a significant environmental concern, contributing 14.4% of human-related methane emissions in 2022. Additionally, the EPA reached a $241.5 million settlement with Marathon Oil for Clean Air Act violations and celebrated Detroit’s progress in removing lead from its drinking water. Recent updates include a $3.5 million settlement in a creosote contamination case and a new label program to promote cleaner construction materials. Coming this fall, the upgraded EHS Hero platform will feature a more configurable dashboard, enhanced search tools, and improved user management.
