In this issue of EHS Hero's What's New, the Department of Labor (DOL) secured an injunction preventing the U.S. Postal Service from retaliating against employees in Washington, while OSHA cited various contractors for serious safety violations in Illinois, Texas, Alabama, Georgia, and Pennsylvania. Dollar General reached a nationwide settlement with OSHA to enhance workplace safety. OSHA also proposed a new heat injury prevention standard. New training resources include safety orientation for Spanish-speaking employees and hazardous materials transportation training. The updated Hazard Communication Plan reflects recent regulatory changes. Additional resources feature an August 2024 customizable safety newsletter, guidance on reducing silica exposure, and an initiative on air contaminants from Michigan. White papers address hearing conservation compliance and strategies to prevent noise-induced hearing loss.
